Tony Hudgell BEM

Tony became our 1st Children's Ambassador this year.

Tony is a bilateral amputee. He  sadly had to have his legs amputated above the knee when he was six years old. This was due to abuse he suffered as a baby by his natural birth parents.

Tony underwent surgery last year to lengthen one of his legs to promote better mobility. During his recovery, Tony showed such determination and strength despite the challenges associated with this operation.

Tony is such a positive role model and will inspire many other children children undergoing medical treatment, those with health conditions or a disability. To date he has raised an incredible two million pounds for charity to support many children who are going through their own difficulties. We are privileged to have him on board at Well Cool Clothing.

Message from Paula, Tony's mum

Tony is so happy to be an ambassador for the amazing Well Cool Clothing! We were incredibly lucky that Kirsty spotted Tony on morning TV,  talking about his upcoming hip surgery and leg-lengthening operation in Sheffield. With the external fixator he’d need to wear for up to a year, everyday clothing was going to be a real challenge.

But then came a wonderful surprise; Kirsty sent him specially designed easy access hospital Pyjamas with clever openings and Velcro fastenings, making it easy and comfortable for Tony during his hospital stay. After surgery, they made custom shorts to fit perfectly around his frame that he wore for just under a year, helping him feel confident and comfortable while out and about.

Tony (& Paula) are part of our group working on an Accessible & Adaptive Children's Clothing range. It will launch later this year.
